Glaciers cover about 10% of the earth's land area & is a major contributor to the earth's fresh water needs (75% fresh water supply).
The largest Glacier in the world is in Eastern Antarctica and is named as "Lambert Glacier". This is about 80 km wide and 500 km long. It moves about one to two meters per day and hence approximately 35 cubic km of Lambert's Ice transforms into sea every year.
